Hansel
and
Gretel
Once
upon
a time in
a
green wood,
among
the trees
a little hut
stood.
A boy
and a girl inside
it did dwell.

Hansel and
Gretel.
Hansel liked

walk,

Hansel one

gave

then
Hansel

Gretel
spied
ahead,

cot
tage

of gingerbread!

roof
was
iced
and
sparkled
with sweets,
chocolate buttons
and
gummy treat
s!
Hansel
couldn't
believe his
eye
s.
Wow!
What
a delicious
surprise!
They
ran
to the house
so fast
and so quick.
Gretel
took the door
and nibbled
at it.
Suddenly
there was a
crash and
a
creep.
Who's
nibbling
on
my house?
came
a shriek.
Out
came an
ugly witch,
wearing a
hat.
At her heels,
meowed a
sad black
cat.
They
stopped
eat
ing
and
trembled
too.
We
didn't
know this house
belonged to you!
The
witch
purred.
Chil
dren!
Never
mind!
Come
inside
and
more sweets
you
shall find
!
Hansel
and
Gretel weren't
sure
about this
But
scrummy sweet
s they couldn't
resist
The witch
shut the
door and
the fire crackled
Now
I
shall eat
you up!
She cackled
They
had walked right
into a
trap.

would gobble
them up in a
snap.
I
think
you'd be
so
tasty,
the
witch
said.
But
Gretel had another
plan
instead.
Gretel
asked,
Don't

sweet

The
witch
crowed.
They're
just
for children
!"
Gretel
laughed.
Sweets
you should
try!
We'd
taste so
nasty
baked in
a
pie!
The
witch looked at
them and
scowled.
Sweets
are sticky
and
yuck
y!
She
growled.
Gretel handed
her a
fizzy red gummy.
Try it with a
mint!
It
tastes
so yummy!
If
you're
wrong,
you
are toast,"
Witch
said.
But
brave
Gretel replied,
Go
ahead.
The witch
chewed the
candy, all
suspicious.
Her
face changed,
Oh,
this
is
delicious.
The witch ate
a sweet,
and then another.
Hansel
and
Gretel looked
at each other.
I
think we'd better go,
said
Hansel.
The
happy witch
waved
them farewell.
The
trees were
still
covered with
frost.
Then
they
saw a path
and weren't
lost.
They
got home and
at last
had lunch.
But
no
more sweets
did
they
munch.
