like the moment's never gonna come
You start to feel like thing
And in a spiral of nights,
while you're out having fun
there's a price that has to come
And as you're staring at the clock,
waiting for a piece of the sun
You fear that you have made it
that you set out for a shore
With prose and admiration
for the ones who came before
But as you're drowning in the sea,
the distant voices are no lore
And you feel so inconsequential,
like God thinks you're a bore
And that's when you know,
that you're out here on your own
There's a sign on the door
that leads you to a phone
But your friends have all moved on,
so you drink a little more
Until your eyes are so weary
and your shadow's on the floor
Then you hobble through the streets
and the rigors of your soul
You try to make sense of it all,
cause there's nothing you want more
As your stories become jaded,
and your heart forever mold
you're always welcome at the door
And though our lives may have changed,
we still have what we've wrote
And while the sky still remains,
I'll swim on toward the shore
Cause some things will never change
And that's what I'm hoping for
