Jerry, you ever go coon
hunting anymore?
Well, I really don't have time, but I did
go coon hunting the other day.
Do you realize that
WTBS, a superstation, channel 17 out of
Atlanta,
does what they call
Portrait of
America?
And they feature states,
and they show it on
Sunday afternoon.
Well, they've done
Portrait of
America, and they featured
Mississippi,
and they feature an old
Jerry and these folks said we
want to do a coon hunt.
We'll bring our equipments and we'll go
down to the wood and we will run the
little raccoon.
My manager said good
gracious woman I've heard
Jerry talk
about coon hunting enough you may
jump that scoundrel him and across four
bottoms three briar patches
and two rivers you may tree.
Jeez I didn't know
that.
So I called old
Tennessee
Hennessy, my buddy in
Yazoo
County that's got the
coon dogs and I said hey let's set up a coon
hunt and get a coon up in a tree
where these dogs are running a little
ways.
Well y 'all ought to seen these
WTBS folks when
they come down there with these two
New
York producers and we
helped these four coon hounds and these
hounds saw that coon go up that tree and
he said, hold the dogs.
I'm going to put the camera on the dogs.
And when I tell you to release the dogs,
you release them.
Well, I knew what was gonna happen
cause the coon in the tree
is right behind the
Yankee
with the
TV camera.
Woo!
He said, all right,
I got a good shot of them.
Release the dogs.
Wham and knocked him down backwards.
His dog,
Eberfang,
went all over him and the camera.
He laid down on his back
and shot that scene up that tree.
And these two
Yankee women,
holding their long -tailed
dresses, running through the briar patch saying,
which way
did the raccoon go?
